The Prince Edward Island edition of the Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Service was held on Sunday, September 25th, 2016, at St. Mark's Anglican Church in Kensington. The service was attended by the Lieutenant Governor, The Honouarble H. Frank Lewis; the Member of Parliament for Egmont, the Honourable Wayne Easter, P.C.; MLA Forest "Bush" Dumville, MLA for West Royalty - Springvale; the Mayor of Kensington, and His Worship Rowan Caseley.
They were joined by Rev. Margie Fagan, Rector of the New London Anglican Parish; Rev. Don MacKenzie, Spring Park United Church; and Chaplains from the RCMP Veterans' Association, Judy Parsons, Brand and Cynthia Chugg.
Members of the Charlottetown Police Service, Summerside Police Service and Kensington Police Service joined with Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from "L" Division, as well as Atlantic Police Academy; Corrections, Parks Canada and Members of the Military.
Master of Ceremonies, Scott Ferris, directed the "Order of Service" for the gathering, which also included many members of the public, some who had relatives who were members of others police and peace officer agencies around the world.
The Charlottetown Police Services choir, under the direction of Sgt. Donna Johnson, led the gathering in hymns such as "Here I Am Lord" and "Until We Meet Again", as well as "O' Canada" and "God Save the Queen". A reception followed prepared by the Ladies Auxillary of St. Mark's.
